On this last one, regardless of whatever the cartoonist may have been saying, this is not at all meant as a sign of disrespect from me to those who lost their life on 9-11. I simply think it's a fitting example of how wrong this idea is.
In my last post, I mentioned I was going to make an important cultural note. When talking about Muslim extremists, I use the word Islamist (-IST). When talking about the nonviolent majority of the faith, I use the word Islamic (-IC). It may not seem like like much of a difference to you or I, but it is a very important distinction in Muslim culture.
